Pledge to Defeat Nalin Kumar in LS Polls – Siddaramaiah during Parivarthan Yatra

Mangaluru: The District Congress organized the Parivarthan Yatra at the Adyar Gardens here on March 6.

Prior to the programme, the Youth Congress members held a procession from Adyar Junction to Adyar Gardens.

District minister in-charge U T Khader welcomed the gathering. Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the Parivarthan Yatra by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering Dinesh Gundu Rao said, “As preparation for the Lok Sabha elections we have organized statewide Parivarthan Yatra. On March 9, Rahul Gandhi will come to Haveri to take part in the Parivarthan yatra where we expect more than 2 lakh people taking part. The Lok Sabha elections will be the turning point because five years ago when BJP fielded Modi as the PM candidate, he had assured of creating 2 crore jobs but during his tenure the country has seen highest unemployment.  Modi had assured to double the profit of farmers but he has not done anything for the farmers. He also assured of bringing back black money from the Swiss banks in 100 days but now its almost 5 years and nothing has happened. Modi has failed to fulfill any of the promises he made, he only lied to the people and came to power. Modi said that he will bring Ache Din, but ache din have not yet come”.

Dinesh Gundu Rao further said, “Yesterday Modi came to Gulbarga and delivered a speech there, but did not mention anything about his achievements in five years. Still people shout pro Modi slogans. Why don’t people ask him about job creation? Whenever Modi gets the chance he is critisises the UPA government. Why are people not questioning him of his promises made during the last LS polls? The MP of Dakshina Kannada is not raising his voice in favour of the farmers when the price of arecanut and rubber dropped drastically since the sons of BJP leaders are involved in the import business. When Siddaramaiah was the CM he had waived Rs 8000 crore farmers loan but the BJP criticised him and said, “Siddaramaiah gave Lollypop”. We gave lollypop! But what has the BJP given to the farmers?”

Dinesh Gundu Rao also said, “The Prime minister is criticising the coalition government and calling CM Kumaraswamy as Remote Control CM. PM Modi speaks low about the coalition government but he forgot that he himself is under the control of Ambani and Adani. There are also allegations of corruption in the Rafale deal.”

Former Union minister C Ibrahim said, “When there was an attack on soldiers in Pulwama, Modi was busy in film shooting. What was the intelligence doing when the terrorists were getting ready for the attack in Pulwama? Neerav Modi and Mallya looted us and fled the country, why is Modi not bringing them back? Congress workers should bring awareness among the people about the failures of the Modi government. This time people of this country are aware of Modi and his false promises, he or the BJP will not come to power. Now, Muslims and Hindus are united let it continue. We are ready to build the Ram Mandir and solve the problem amicably by calling both the Hindu and Muslim leaders together. We don’t have second hand Hindus, all are equal. Gundu Rao is pure Brahmin and he is also a first Class Hindu. Hindus and Muslims should live in harmony and unity.”

Ramanath Rai said, “Five years ago when the BJP was in power, Janardhan Reddy’s trucks were plying not only in Ballari but they were plying in Dakshina Kannada too. After the Congress government led by CM Siddaramaiah came to power we stopped Janardhan Reddy’s games. We have developed our district a lot in all areas.

Addressing the gathering former CM Siddaramaiah said, “We all should pledge to defeat MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who is useless. Once DK was the strong fort of the Congress, in the 19 constituencies of DK, Udupi and Uttara Kannada, the Congress had won 13 seats and the BJP only 3. People of DK are peace lovers and want to live in harmony. But the BJP is spreading propaganda, the Modi government has failed in all areas. The BJP does not have the moral right to say that they have fulfilled their promises. I urge the people not to trust the sweet talk of Modi and the BJP. When I was the CM, Congress had won 7 constituencies in DK. I had made 165 promises in my manifesto and fulfilled all the promises. In the 5 years of my tenure, I have given many schemes to DK”.

Siddaramaiah further said, “MP Nalin Kumar Kateel did not even bother to complete the work of the flyovers. The BJP MPs don’t have the courage to speak in front of Modi. When I went to Delhi with my delegation including BJP MPs, they could not open their mouth. I requested Modi to waive the farmers’ loan but Modi did not respond. I asked Sadananda Gowda, Jagadish Shettar and Shobha Karandlaje to speak but they did not speak. When these three could not open their mouth, how will MP Nalin speak? It is the duty of the people of DK to defeat Nalin Kumar Kateel who is always talking about setting the district on fire and spreading hatred. The people of DK are intellectuals and well educated. Four MPs, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Pratap Simha, Shobha Karandlaje and Ananth Kumar are born in RSS families. If I ask Nalin, what is your Contribution to the Mangaluru Lok Sabha Constituency in 10 years? Will he answer? Is it to set the district on fire and incite communal violence? Life has become difficult for the farmers, middle class and the backward. Recently B S Yeddyurappa compared the airstrikes to the Lok Sabha elections. B S Yeddyurappa is playing politics with the lives of our Soldiers. We are proud of our soldiers because they sacrifice their lives for the country. We respect them. Pulwama attack is the failure of the Modi government. If the intelligence would have done their job well, 44 soldiers would not have lost their lives. In Modi’s tenure, the highest number of soldiers have lost their lives. No one should play politics over our soldiers dead body. Whatever promises Modi had made, did he fulfill? Modi said “Ache din ayega”, the farmers and the poor did not get the ache din only Nirav Modi, Mallya, Lalit Modi, Mehul Choksi, Ambani and Adani got ache din! This time we all should pledge to defeat Nalin Kumar Kateel and work hard for the victory of the Congress candidate.”

AICC Leaders Vishnunath, K C Venugopal, Pushpa Amaranath, former minister Abhaychandra Jain, former MLAs Shakuntala Shetty, J R Lobo, Moideen Bava, MLC Ivan D’Souza, MLC Harish Kumar, District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai and others were also present.
