The case was registered at Kadaba Police Station in 2018. D. Manjunath, who was then the Circle Police Inspector of Uppinangady, investigated the case and filed a chargesheet against the accused.

After hearing the case, the Judge found the accused guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 6 read with Section 5 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000, with an additional one year of rigorous imprisonment in the event of default in payment.

Additionally, the court sentenced him to one year of rigorous imprisonment under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for criminal intimidation and imposed a further fine of Rs 25,000. Failure to pay the fine would attract an additional one year of rigorous imprisonment.
