Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar Rewards Auto Driver for Returning Bag with Valuables worth Rs 5 Lakh
Mangaluru: An honest Auto driver returned a bag containing gold ornaments to its owner who had left it in his auto at the KSRTC bus stand here on August 26.
The couple Deepti and Prashanth who is a software engineer from Bengaluru hand come to Mangaluru to attend a wedding at Kulai. They engaged an autorickshaw from the KSRTC bus stand to Kulai. The couple alighted the auto at Kulai but forgot to take the bag with them. The driver dropped the couple in Kulai and returned.
After some time the auto driver Pratap Shetty (35) noticed the bag in the passenger seat which the couple forgot to take. Pratap straight away went to the North police station and handed over the bag containing valuables to the police.
The North police inspector Shantharam informed the couple and asked them to come to the Police commissioner’s office to collect their bag containing gold ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh.
Police commissioner Chandra Sekhar appreciated the integrity of Pratap and rewarded him Rs 5000 along with an appreciation letter. The bag was later handed over to the couple.
Hats off to Pratap Shetty for his honesty and integrity in returning the bag to its rightful owners.

It’s a tough job to be a Policeman, but the toughness can only be smoothened and polished by our frequent recognition on all that they dedicate for the upkeep of our Community. A “salaam” to the Police when they are controlling the traffic, a simple “thank you” by greeting them while they are standing in a corner of the street watching the law and order can be a rewarding gesture to the Police so that they can do their job better with a smile on their face and satisfaction in their mind. Let’s select a “Police Day” once a year and felicitate the Police in a fitting way so that they know that we watch them and admire them in our own quiet way.
