‘Poojary is a Senior Leader, I will not criticize Him for His Remarks’ – Dr Rajendra Kumar

Mangaluru: “I was not the aspirant at all to contest in any election. I did not ask anyone to give me the ticket. I have received calls from KPCC and local Congress leaders to come to Delhi. But I said for me my bank is like my mother and I will not come to Delhi. For me, the MP seat is not important. I did not ask anyone to give me the LS ticket to contest”, said the president of SCDCC Bank Dr Rajendra Kumar on March 22.

Speaking to the media persons after the press meet, Dr Rajendra Kumar said, “The Congress Leaders asked me if we give you the ticket will you contest the LS elections? If they give me the ticket I will contest. I was waiting for the important bank elections to finish. I want the development of the bank. I am not here to be an MP, I am not for power, but I will always work for the development of society”.

Dr Rajendra further said, “If the ticket is given to me I will surely contest and win the elections. If I win, not only me but all will be the MPs, all should grow with me, that is how I work. If I get the ticket I will surely contest. I have never asked for the MP ticket. How did my name come in the candidates’ list for the LS polls?”

When asked about Poojary’s comment against him, Dr Rajendra said, “Janardhan Poojary is a senior leader, I respect him. I will not comment on his statement about me. Being the former Union minister Poojary should not criticize anyone without evidence, every citizen has the right to contest the elections”.

When asked about supporting the Congress candidate in the forthcoming LS polls Dr Rajendra said, “I will surely support the Congress candidate. I will not criticize anyone nor will I abuse or hurt anyone. I never asked anyone or lobbied to get the LS ticket and I was not an aspirant.”
