Puttur: Accused Arrested After 41 Non-Bailable Warrants Issued
Puttur: Puttur Town Police arrested an accused who failed to appear before the court despite 41 non-bailable warrants issued for repeated absenteeism.
According to the police, a case was registered at the Puttur Town Police Station (Crime No. 200/2017) in connection with a robbery that took place on December 22, 2017. In the incident, three unidentified persons allegedly barged into a house within the police station limits, threatened the occupants with a pistol and a knife, and robbed gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 2.88 lakh along with Rs 60,000 in cash.
Nelson C.V. (38), a native of Thrissur, Kerala, absconded after failing to appear for trial since August 27, 2021. He ignored repeated summons, leading the court to issue 41 non-bailable warrants against him.
On July 8, 2026, a police team comprising Head Constable Santosh A. (HC 413), Police Constable Vinayak (PC 2347), and Police Constable Shivaraj (PC 454) traced and arrested the accused at Miyur in Kerala’s Thrissur district. He was subsequently produced before the competent court.
Police said the accused had earlier been granted conditional bail but repeatedly violated the bail conditions by failing to appear before the court. Consequently, the Puttur Town Police Station registered another case against him (Crime No. 80/2026) under Section 269 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, for violating the court’s directions.
