Puttur: Four Arrested in Inter-State Vehicle Theft Case
Puttur: Police have arrested four persons allegedly involved in inter-state vehicle theft in connection with the theft of an Omni car at Madnoor Kavu, within the jurisdiction of the Puttur Rural Police Station.
The Omni car was stolen between June 19 and 20, 2026. A case was registered at the Puttur Rural Police Station under Crime No. 94/2026 and Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The investigation was conducted by a special team led by PSIs Gunapala J. and Sushma G. Bhandary, under the guidance of Puttur Sub-Divisional Deputy Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar and Puttur Rural Police Station In-charge Police Inspector Thimmappa Naik.
The investigation team conducted operations in Kerala and Tamil Nadu and arrested Abdul Sayil J. (25), Mohammed Aasiq (25) and Mohammed Siraj (28), all residents of Kasaragod, Kerala, and Shaktivelu G. (24), a resident of Karur, Tamil Nadu.
Police recovered the stolen Omni car, valued at approximately Rs 2.5 lakh, and a KTM motorcycle worth around Rs 1 lakh, which was allegedly used in the commission of the crime.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to stealing the Omni car and taking it to Kerala, from where it was subsequently sold to Tamil Nadu. Police said the stolen vehicle was later converted into an ambulance in Tamil Nadu.
The investigation also revealed that theft cases had previously been registered against the arrested accused at Badiyadka and Vidyanagar police stations in Kerala.
The arrested accused were produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
