Puttur Mahalingeshwara Temple Gets New Committee

Puttur: The state government has announced the new managing committee for Shri Mahalingeshwara temple here. The names were chosen on the basis of recommendations from the Dhaarmika Parishat.

The posts of members of the committee of this temple, designated as an A-grade temple, had remained vacant since 2015. Although there was a plan to reconstitute the committee before the annual fair, the matter went to the court and hence it was delayed. The court allowed the conduct of the fair without any hitch.

The question whether the Dhaarmika Parishat was competent to constitute the committee too went up to the supreme court level. It recently ruled in the positive which paved the way for the new appointments.

The following will be the members of the committee: The chief priest of the temple, Karunakar Rai, Sudhakar Shetty, Nayana Rai, Janu Naik, Sanjiva Nayak Kallega, N K Nagaraj, U P Ramakrishna and Rohini Acharya.
