Raknno Literary Awards 2026 Announced
Mangaluru, September 1, 2026: Raknno, the Konkani-English bilingual weekly published from Mangaluru, has announced its Annual Literary Awards for 2026.
The Best Author of the Year Award will be presented to Dr Jerry Niddodi, while the Best Parish Magazine Award will go to Angelorcho Ange, the parish magazine of Guardian Angel Church, Angelore, Nagori, Mangaluru.
The awards will be presented by the Bishop of Mangaluru, Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 9.30 a.m. at Bejai Church Hall, Mangaluru.
The President of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, Mr Joachim Stany Alvares, will be the chief guest at the programme. The event is being organised by Raknno Weekly in collaboration with the Bejai Parish Community.
Raknno is an esteemed weekly publication of the Diocese of Mangaluru and has been serving its readers since 1938, providing insights and information on a wide range of subjects. For the past three years, the weekly has been honouring literary contributions through two prestigious awards aimed at promoting Konkani literature.
Following a call for entries, a committee scrutinizes submissions and selects the recipients of the two awards each year.
Following the award ceremony, a training programme on the Konkani language will be conducted by Rev. Valerian Fernandes, former Editor of Raknno.
Editor and Publisher Rev. Rupesh Ashok Madtha, along with the Editorial Board and Scrutiny Committee, congratulated the awardees and issued the press release.
