Ranga Pai, Founder of Pailands Passed away at Age 73

Mangaluru: Founder of Pailands, a pioneering engineer and popular builder of Mangaluru, Ranga Pai passed away this evening Monday, April 11 at 4.10 p.m. at the age of 73 at his residence.

Born in Mangaluru on February 6, 1943, he was an alumnus of St Aloysius School and College and completed his engineering studies at Karnataka Regional Engineering College (KREC) (now NITK), Surathkal. After his engineering, he founded Pailands, which promoted several enterprises.

An active industry leader and community stalwart, M Ranga Pai had formerly served as president of Builders Association of India and Canara Builders Association and also as a trustee of Sri Venkataramana Temple, Car Street, treasurer of GSB Seva Sangh and as secretary of Abhaya Ashraya, Mangaluru. He was also an active member of Mangalore Jaycees, Lions Club, Rotary Club and other organizations.

He is survived by his wife Suman Pai, son architect Venkatesh Pai and family and two daughters Divya Pai, Sathya Pai Shankar and family. According to family members, the last respects may be paid to his mortal remains at his residence, ‘Sriniketan’, Near Jogi Matt, Kadri Park Road, Kadri Hills, Mangaluru, and the funeral will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, April 12 at Boloor crematorium.
