Reputed Medical College Suspends Medicos Involved in Ganja Consumption and Peddling Case

Mangaluru: A reputed medical college in the city suspended all the doctors as well as the Medical Students in connection with the Ganja consumption and Peddling case and handed over the suspension letters to the Police Commissioner on January 20.

While handing over the suspension letter, the Dean of the Medical College said that the College is committed to providing a safe, secure and conducive educational/work environment for every individual to achieve his/her true potential. The Medical students (MBBS, MD, MS) studying in the college are admitted based on their merit as per their NEET score and NEET rank through All India Counseling and seat allotment by DGHS/MCC New Delhi and State Counseling and seat allotment by KEA Karnataka.

Dean further said, “The University and College have Zero Tolerance policy towards Substance Consumption or peddling on and off campus, including private and paying guest accommodations and on any form of transportation to and from the college. We have a policy on Substance Abuse to prevent substance abuse and create a secure, conducive atmosphere for learning among the students on campus. And this policy is implemented in our college and also across the University. The college will provide full cooperation to the police and the investigating authorities regarding the ongoing investigation. The college has already commenced random checks, frisking etc at all hostels and the workplace including the hospitals, lockers and bags routinely by the competent college authorities”.

On January 11, 10 persons including 9 Medicos, were arrested in connection with the Ganja consumption and peddling case. Later 5 more were arrested in the same case. The Medical College has suspended all the Medicos and concluded their contract as well as the probationary appointment. The copies of the suspension were handed over to police commissioner N Shashi Kumar at his office by the Dean.
