River Festival Logo Released by Minister U T Khader- Fest on 12 & 13 January

Mangaluru : The Logo of River Festival to be held on 12 and 13 January 2019 at the Kulur, Thannirbavi and Sulthan Bathery was released by District in-charge minister U T Khader at DC office on Tuesday January 1.

In his inaugural address U T Khader said, “Our district and Mangaluru has all the facilities and potential to promote tourism. When we organize events like this one, it will attract more people. And since river is a model, event like this one will also create awareness.

There have been many demands to incorporate Beach festival in Abbakka Utsava, which is usually conducted during the month of February.”

Speaking on the occasion, ADC Kumar said, ”Committees have been formed to conduct Abbakka Utsav, and programme schedule will be finalized soon”

Also speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said, “We should see that the backwaters are protected, and therefore heavy marketing needs to be done. Even though we have been successfully conducting beach festival, but our backwater is not
utilized to its potential. We should also create awareness on backwater and its importance. During this two-day river festival, there will be water based events such as Kayaking, Rowing and other activities.. Backwaters of Kulur, Tannirbhavi and Sultan Battery have been selected. In Bengre Kulur there will be various programmes, including food festival, film festival, stalls and much more”.

“People can reach the event location through boating from three points, Tannirbhavi, Kulur and Sultan Battery for which temporary jetty service will be provided. Other modes of transport like buses are also arranged. Private vehicles are not allowed. One can reach the
venue through cycling also. Along with food festival and film festival, there will musical event, concerts and much more” added DC.

MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazeer, City Police commissioner T R Suresh, Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr Selvamani, DCP Uma Prashanth,and others were present during the logo release programme.
