Rohan Corporation Marks India’s 80th Independence Day; Veteran Agriculturist Jack Anil Honoured
Mangaluru: Rohan Corporation India Private Limited, one of Mangaluru’s leading real estate developers, celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day with flag-hoisting ceremonies across its landmark developments. The principal programme was held at Rohan Square, Capitanio, bringing together residents, staff members and winners of the Independence Day drawing competition.

The national flag was hoisted by veteran agriculturist Jack Anil in the presence of Rohan Corporation Managing Director Dr. Rohan Monteiro, Director Dion Monteiro, General Manager Sumana and special guest M.K. Ali, formally marking the commencement of the celebrations.
A major highlight of the programme was the felicitation of Jack Anil with the ‘Krishi Vrukshanveshaka Sadhaka’ Award, in recognition of his sustained efforts to promote traditional agricultural practices, preserve indigenous varieties of jackfruit and create awareness about plant diversity. Through his dedicated work, he has played a significant role in preserving valuable agricultural knowledge and plant heritage for future generations.
Addressing the gathering, Rohan Monteiro, founder of Rohan Corporation, said, “Independence Day is a moment to reflect on how far our country has come and the responsibility we carry towards its future. For us at Rohan Corporation, this also means contributing to the communities we are part of and creating a positive impact beyond the spaces we build. Today is a celebration of that shared responsibility and the spirit of India.”
Dion Monteiro, Director of Rohan Corporation, said, “Independence Day reminds us of how far India has come and the responsibility we have towards its future. The same spirit of progress must guide Mangaluru as well. As Mangaluru continues to evolve, we all have a role to play in contributing to its growth and building a city that future generations can be proud of.”
Expressing his gratitude for the honour, Jack Anil said, “This honour is a great encouragement for me to continue my efforts towards preserving our agricultural heritage and indigenous varieties.”
Special guest M.K. Ali said, “It is a pleasure to be here and be part of this Independence Day celebration. Seeing everyone gathered here to celebrate our nation together makes this occasion even more meaningful.”
The celebration also marked the culmination of Freedom Palette 2026, a drawing competition organised on the theme “The Coast in the Story of India.” Sixty finalists competed in the final round held at Rohan City, Bejai. The winners were presented with cash prizes and certificates during the programme. Pixncil Studio served as the jury partner and evaluated the entries.
The programme was hosted by Prajna Odilnala, who guided the proceedings smoothly through the various segments.
Independence Day celebrations were also held at other Rohan Corporation developments. The national flag was hoisted at City Square, M.G. Road, and Ballalbagh by Adv. Azeez and Dr. Padmanabha Kamath, while at High Crest, Kadri, the flag was hoisted by Surendra Pai in the presence of residents and staff.
From honouring a veteran agriculturist to recognising the creativity of young artists, the celebration reflected Rohan Corporation’s belief, built over more than three decades, that a nation progresses through people who care for it, contribute to it and work towards creating a better tomorrow.
