Rs 3 Lakh Sanctioned from CM’s Relief Fund to Family of Fatimath Nishana
Puttur: The Karnataka Chief Minister’s Relief Fund has sanctioned an assistance of Rs 3 lakh to the family of Fatimath Nishana, a resident of Sarepuni in Kedambady village, who died under suspicious circumstances at her husband’s residence on July 18.
According to MLA Ashok Rai, the relief was approved following his intervention and request for support for the bereaved family, which is reportedly facing severe financial and emotional distress. Nishana is survived by a three-year-old child, intensifying the hardship suffered by her family after the incident.
On Thursday, MLA Ashok Rai met Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in Bengaluru and appealed for a fair and impartial investigation into the case. He urged the government to ensure justice is delivered to Nishana’s family without delay, stressing the need for a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding her death.
During the meeting, Rai informed the Deputy Chief Minister that the family belongs to an economically weaker background and is struggling to cope with the loss. He also underscored the urgency of providing immediate financial assistance to help the family manage the situation.
Responding to the request, the Chief Minister approved the release of Rs 3 lakh from the relief fund. Officials said the sanctioned amount is expected to be credited to the family’s bank account within the next few days.
The case has drawn attention in the region, with local leaders and residents calling for transparency in the investigation. The financial support from the government is seen as an immediate measure to help the family during deep distress, while the demand for a proper inquiry continues.
