RWAs of Delhi’s unauthorized colonies to ‘thank’ Modi

New Delhi:  All the seven Members of Parliament from Delhi, along with RWA representatives of the previously unauthorized colonies of the capital, will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday evening to “thank” him for allowing the residents of those colonies to have ownership rights over their properties. The meeting is scheduled at 4 p.m.

In a major decision, the Modi Cabinet on October 23 approved regulations for conferring or recognising ownership, mortgage, transfer rights to 40 lakh residents unauthorised colonies in Delhi. The beneficiary colonies are in total of 1,797 in numbers.

Now, in the winter session of Parliament, a bill to this effect will be introduced. Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Manoj Tiwari too has confirmed the same. In a recent meeting in Delhi, Tiwari said, “In the Winter Session of Parliament, legislation will be passed, and people living in unauthorized colonies will start getting ownership rights soon”.

With Delhi Assembly election slated early next year, every political party is trying to milk the issue. First, it was Aam Aadmi Party that blamed the BJP-led Centre for delaying the decision. Now, that the Centre has given a go ahead, BJP’s all 7 Delhi MPs have been instructed to go on an overreach to own the decision. Many Delhi MPs including Gautam Gambhir celebrated Diwali this year in unauthorized colonies.

Now with the RWA representative meeting the Prime Minister at his official residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg along with BJP MPs from Delhi, AAP will have to work extra hard to claim credit for it.
