Saligrama TMC Employee attempts suicide after ‘false allegations’

Kundapur: An employee of Saligrama town Panchayat tried to commit suicide by jumping from the bridge on February 3.

Saligrama TMC Employee Jayaraj, before attempting suicide, wrote a letter mentioning that he was deeply hurt by the false allegations of harassment by a Dalit woman at her house.

Saligrama town Panchayat chief officer Sripad Bhat issued a show cause notice to Jayaraj alleging him of harassing the Dalit woman. The town Panchayat members also urged the officer to take action during the meeting. Jayaraj being depressed by the false allegations decided to end life, he wrote a letter and jumped from the Mabukala Bridge. Passers-by who noticed the incident immediately acted and rescued Jayaraj with the help of locals. Being low tide at the time, Jayaraj was rescued easily. Jayaraj was later admitted to a private hospital in Brahmavar with a severe injury to his leg.

Kota Police have registered a case in this connection and investigation is on.
