Sangh Parivar Stops GP President Sebastian from Taking Part in Temple Programme

Beltangady: The BJP and the Sangh Parivar staged a protest against the local gram Panchayat President to stop him from taking part in the temple programme at Kokkada here on January 31.

On January 31, a Puja was going on, at the Mahaganapati Temple in Suatadka. The Kokkada Gram Panchayat president Sebastian was invited for the programme in the temple. The programme was organised under the presidentship of MLA Vasanth Bangera.

When GP President Sebastian was invited to the stage, BJP leaders Ranjan Gowda, Harish Punja, Sashidhar Kalmanja and others staged a protest at the venue. They also attempted to stop the programme by shouting slogans against inviting people from other faiths as guests.

The Beltangady police intervened and the protesters into custody. They were later released.

The inauguration of a number of development projects by the government was also held at the Mahaganapati Temple during the religious programme,
