Sarvotham Shetty Inaugurates Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation
Dubai: The UAE chapter of Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation Trust, founded by famous Yakshagana bhagavatha, Patla Sathish Shetty with a vision to crater to the welfare of Yakshagana artistes and their families during their tough times.
The Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation UAE Chapter was inaugurated by its president, Sarvotham Shetty at Fortune Plaza hotel here, on June 4 along with Praveen Shetty, Gunasheel Shetty, Raghu Shetty and Patla Sathish Shetty.
Speaking on the occasion, Sarvotham Shetty said that even though artistes dedicate themselves to the art, they do not become rich and financially stable. “Yakshagana is our culture and the tradition of Tulu Nadu. Many artistes have dedicated their entire lives for it. But when they are unable to perform or fall sick, they get very less support from the society and very few people come to their support. Through the Yakshadhruva Patla Foundation, we need to support such artistes. We should all join hands to strengthen the foundation.
President of Fortune Group of Hotels Praveen Shetty said that the foundation will work for the welfare of Yakshagana artistes without discrimination and rendered his wholehearted support towards the foundation. All the artistes from any troupe or teams will be supported through the foundation.
Founder Patla Sathish Shetty briefed on the foundation and said that many Yakshagana artistes lead a substandard life due to their low incomes. “Even their health condition is not good. The main aim of the foundation is to work for the welfare of these artistes, by constructing houses for the needy artistes, provide scholarship or financial help for their children, medical insurance for the artistes and their families. The collected funds will be completely utilized for the welfare of the artistes,” he said. Sathish also thanked the supporters for joining hands with the foundation.
Yakshamitraru felicitated all the artistes, supporters, media representives and sponsors of “Virochana-Taranisena”. Buding artist Sharanya Venkatesh performed bhagavathike on the occasion. Rajesh Kuthar compered the programme. Vittal Shetty delivered the vote of thanks.
