Sasikala returns to prison after parole

Bengaluru: Expelled AIADMK leader V K Sasikala returned to Parappana Agrahara central prison on Thursday evening after completing her five-day emergency parole. She was allowed to go to Chennai to meet her ailing husband M Natarajan.

Prison officials said: “She returned to jail around 4.30 pm on Thursday. She was brought back by road from Chennai. She was granted parole for five days from October 7 to 11, excluding the travel time. Sasikala was supposed to return to jail before 6 pm, which she did, as per the parole rules.

Prison sources said that T T V Dhinakaran, Sasikala’s political aide and relative, and her advocate Ashokan accompanied her till the prison gate. They were with her till she completed all the formalities of her returning from the parole. She visited Gleneagles Global Health City, where her husband Natarajan (74) underwent liver and kidney transplantation.

Sasikala has been in prison since February 2017 after the Supreme Court upheld her conviction by the special court in the disproportionate assets case.
