Say Hello to HALO 2019- a National Level Conference on “Strengthening Health Care with Contemporary Approaches” by A J Institute of Hospital Management, in association with A J Hospital & Research Centre and A J Institute of Medical Sciences, on 14 & 15 June 2019 at A J Institute of Medical Sciences Conference Hall, Mangaluru

Mangaluru : This two day conference is about Healthcare Administration through Learning and Observation (HALO) focused on management issues in Healthcare. The talks and paper presentations will give a historical and theoretical overview of contemporary concept of healthcare and various levels of prevention. Interventions are not generally provided as freestanding activities but are delivered in variety of packages and through different levels of a health system. The objectives of the Conference is -To emphasize the need of strengthening healthcare in super specialty hospital; To explore the contemporary approaches to promote healthcare; To develop strategies to initiate leadership and providing quality healthcare in super specialty hospitals.

The Theme ” “Strengthening Health Care with Contemporary Approaches” is aimed at empowering healthcare managers and to promote their ability to plan, organize, control and lead the organization and to strengthen with contemporary approaches and by handling issues in a productive manner. The issues that will be focused on during the 2-day conference will be- Quality and Patient Safety; Nursing and Infection Control; Operations and Hospital; Administration; Insurance; Wellness Tourism; Research; Legal Issues; Innovation in Healthcare Technology; and Procurement and Inventory.

The inauguration programme of the Conference began with a prayer dance followed by welcome address Dr Amitha Marla- Director of Medical Administration. The introduction of the Conference theme and launching it was done by Ms Nirmala Kumari- Chief Adviser of the Conference and Principal of A J Institute of Hospital Administration, which was followed by inauguration of the conference by lighting the lamp by Chief Guest- Dr Giridhar Gyani, Director General, Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHP)-Delhi; along with guest of honor- Dr (Col) M Dayananda-Director, JSS Hospital-Mysuru; along with other dignitaries namely- Dr A J Shetty-Chairman, A J Group of Institutions, Mangaluru; Dr Prashanth Marla- Medical director, A J Hospital and Research Centre; and Dr Priya Aranha from KMC as Observer from Karnataka State Nursing Council.

In his inaugural address Dr Giridhar Gyani praised the A J Institute for its great campus surroundings and scenic atmosphere, and complimented Dr A J Shetty for his efforts and commitment in starting this great institution. He said, “Healthcare has been the oldest and noblest profession, but recently it has taken a different route. The present healthcare needs to advance and reach greater heights through new innovations. Healthcare management is a growing industry in India, and the need for professionals to manage healthcare facilities will also grow. But you should all be proud that you have taken a great profession, where you’ll grow richer and also reach great heights. Best of luck in your healthcare career”.

Dr (Col) M Dayananda-Director, JSS Hospital-Mysuru said, ” Healthcare management professionals can also advance their education to pursue a doctoral degree in health administration in order to move into teaching positions at the college level, become a public policy analyst or lead larger organizations at more complex levels. Those with an interest in the medical field and a desire to lead may be interested in this field. Healthcare management continues to grow and offers a number of opportunities to contribute to one’s communities and society at large. You have chosen a right profession in healthcare which will surely lead you into prospect and greater heights”.

Dr Suphala Kotian- organizing secretary briefed about the Conference Souvenir “Radiance”which was released by the chief guest on the occasion. In his presidential address, Dr A J Shetty said, “I feel proud of A J Institute of Hospital Management organizing this 2-day conference, with a aim to promote the ability of healthcare managers to plan, organize, control, and to lead and strengthen with contemporary approaches. This is an useful conference to enrich the knowledge of students, medical practitioners and other professionals in the healthcare delivery system. I wish the conference a grand success”.

The Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Vijaya P- Organizing Chairperson, while the programme was compered by Akhilesh Rego and Miss Cleeta Rodrigues-students of Final Year in A J Institute of Hospital Administration.
