SDIT is Excellent Engineering College in Karnataka

Mangaluru: Shree Devi Institute of Technology (SDIT) held a press meet at SDIT campus, Kenjar here, on March 19.

Addressing the mediapersons, Principal of SDIT, Dr Dilip Kumar said, “The prestigious award for ‘Excellent Engineering College in Karnataka’ was conferred on Shree Devi Institute of Technology at the 2nd National Karnataka Education Summit and Awards 2016 organized by Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi in association with CMAI Association of India.”

The award function was held at Visvesvaraya Technological University Center for PG Studies, Muddenahalli, Bengaluru on March 14. State Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industries and Department of Tourism, R V Deshpande and State Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Higher Education, T B Jayachandra were the Chief Guests. MLA from Chikkaballapura, Dr K Sudhakar was the Guest of Honour, Vice Chancellor of VTU, Dr H Maheshappa presided over the function. President, CMAI Association of India NK Goyal and T Bhaskara Executive Engineer (E), Technical Advisor and Special Officer VTU regional office Mysuru were present on the occasion.

Chairman of Shree Devi Education Trust, A Sadananda Shetty, Vice Chairman, Nidhish Shetty and Principal, Dr Dilip Kumar received the award from RV Deshapande. The award was presented to Shree Devi Institute of Technology recognizing its excellence in various parameters such as infrastructure, teaching, industry-academia interface and placement efforts. “The committee gave us a surprise visit and evaluated our college,” Dr Dilip added.

Shree Devi Institute of Technology was established in the year 2006. The first batch of outgoing students of Shree Devi Institute of Technology excelled by securing 100% results, with 91% of students passing with distinction and 9% of students passing with first class. The academic excellence at Shree Devi Institute Technology is reflected in its BE, MBA and MCA students exemplary record in placements in the corporate and engineering sectors. The college has consistently maintained an excellent recruitment record. “This year about 228 students are already placed with the highest annual package of Rs 6.3 lakhs to 3 students. We train our students in soft skills and technical aspects prior to the interviews,” said Dr Dilip.

Over a span of 10 years, Shree Devi Institute of Technology has grown in leaps and bounds. The campus is set amidst the vibrant surroundings of suburban Mangaluru. The modern buildings house excellent state-of-the-art laboratories and instructional facilities relevant to the course of study. Well-qualified staff augments infrastructural resources for the overall benefit of the students. Shree Devi Institute of Technology offers opportunities to students to pursue studies in Management (MBA), Computer Studies (MCA), Bachelor of Engineering(BE)in Aeronautical, Civil, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Information Science and Mechanical Engineering. MTech Programmes in six branches namely Computer Science and Engineering, Digital Electronics and Communication, VLSI Design and Embedded Systems, Computer Network Engineering, Industrial Automation and Robotics and Construction Technology. The college offers Research Programmes leading to PhD in Departments of Physics, Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering.

Shree Devi Institute of Technology has also entered into an MOU with North Dakota State University, USA and SIT, Tumkur with a view to promote collaborative research and development, education and training.
