Second PU Exams Begin in 29 Centres across District

Udupi: The second year pre-university examinations began in a smooth manner in the district on Thursday March 11.

In all, 14,485 students from the district are appearing in 29 centres for the examinations, which will go on till March 28. The number of fresh candidates taking up the exams is 13,309. There are 469 repeaters and 1067 private candidates. As many as 2447 are from arts stream, 8006 from commerce, and 4392 from science streams. Of the total number of candidates appearing for the exam, as many as 7611 are girls and 7234 boys. All morning exams will be held between 9 am and 12:15 pm. The exams scheduled for the afternoon session will be held between 2 pm and 5:15 pm.

To avoid malpractices, the department has appointed squads at district and taluk levels. Along with this, special sitting squads have been deputed at each centre. For security purposes, section no. 144 has been proclaimed within a radius of 200 metres of each exam centre. Gathering in groups or any other activities disturbing the peace near the exam centres have also been banned. The department arranged to the students better infrastructural facilities like drinking water and cleanliness in the toilets.
