Second PUC Student Found Dead in Kelarkalabettu, Suspected Suicide

Malpe: A second-year Pre-University Course (PUC) student, identified as Swastik (16), has tragically died in an apparent suicide in Kelarkalabettu, near Nejar. The incident occurred on July 27th at the residence of the deceased.

Swastik, son of Jayanti S, was a student at a private college in Udupi. According to reports, Jayanti had briefly left their Kelarkalabettu home to retrieve her daughter’s medical certificate from Nejar. Upon her return, she discovered the main door ajar and subsequently found Swastik unresponsive in the living room. He was reportedly hanging from the northern window, suspended by a belt.

Jayanti immediately severed the belt and, with the assistance of neighbors, transported Swastik to Geronti Hospital. Medical personnel at Geronti Hospital advised immediate transfer to Adarsha Hospital in Udupi, where attending physicians pronounced Swastik deceased.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Swastik used a belt affixed to the window grill to commit the act. As of now, the precise motive behind the suspected suicide remains unknown.

The Malpe police have registered a case and have commenced a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Swastik’s death. Authorities are currently exploring all potential factors that may have contributed to this tragic event.
