See What Could Happen When You Order Samosa at a 5-Star Hotel ?

This morning I received a hilarious video on my Whatsapp, thought that I would share it with our readers. Yes, Samosas are pretty much the National Street Food of India. On a nice rainy day, nothing can quite beat the pairing of one cup of chai or coffee and steaming samosas. And what’s rather interesting is that while this savory snack is popular across the country, each state pretty much has its own version. For instance, the Punjabi samosa is dominated by potatoes and peas, with raisins and cashews added in to enhance the flavour. In Gujarat, the patti samosa is quite popular. And this one is stuffed with finely chopped potatoes that are allowed to cook in the oil as the samosa is fried. The patti is also made with wheat flour instead of maida (refined flour) because cabbage is often an important ingredient, and refined flour can’t quite hold that ingredient together, as per sources.

The Bengali samosa, which is referred to as the singara, uses potatoes and peas, and cauliflower, and even peanuts for a little crunch. Even though it’s hot thanks to the chillies used, it’s much milder than other samosas when it comes to the spice factor. In Karnataka, onion samosas is a big hit, as is keema samosa, made popular by some of the local bakeries. In Delhi, apart from the potato samosa, the one with keema, khova, or even moong dal are quite popular.

Yes, many times Samosas are as crunchy as it can get and decadent. If you have a slightly posh palate, most of the five-star hotel coffee shops serve the samosa. Now Street food has found a high platform in 5-star hotels. All that was once found only on streets and had a great demand as ‘street food’ has been taken to the tables in 5-star hotels satisfying stomach fire. Trainer Chefs of star hotels said that their cooking techniques and skills have made a place for the so-called street food in the kitchens of star category hotels.

So just to brighten up your Thursday morning, on a lighter side of the vein, watch the following video and see what happens when a customer at a restaurant of a 5-star hotel not knowing it was Samosa, orders that snack found in the menu-
