Sharath Madival murder case, HHS Holds Hunger Strike

Mangaluru: The Hindu Hitarakshana Samiti (HHS) held a hunger strike demanding the arrest of the accused in Sharath’s murder, in front of the DC office here on August 8.

Addressing the protesters Jagadish Shenava said, “One month ago RSS worker Sharath Madiwal was brutally murdered and so far no arrests have been made. But our leaders have been booked. Today we have held a symbolic protest.”

Addressing the protesters Prof M B Puranik said, “The Hindu Society is very patient, and peace loving without giving heed to communal provocations. According to the Hindu Culture, the Hindu society is always living in peace. If we want to live in peace we need to maintain peace and the Hindu society is follows peaceful ways. The Hindu society not only cares for Human being but also loves animals since they too are God’s creation and have the right to live.”

Puranik further said, “Those who live in peace and do not encourage violence are being discriminated. From the last 2 months in the Dakshina Kannada district, we have seen disturbances in places like Beltangady, Bantwal, Suratkal etc. In Kerala, CPI is ruling under Pinaray Vijayan and from the past three years, RSS and BJP workers have been brutally murdered but there are no protests against the killings. In Kerala 19 workers belonging to the RSS and BJP have been killed in front of their family members. In Kerala and West Bengal, Hindu youth have been killed brutally but the government or the district administration have not taken any action.”

Prof Puranik also said, “In Karnataka, the government is blaming the BJP, VHP, ABVP, Bajrang Dal and the Sangh Parivar for communal violence. Last month RSS Worker Sharath was murdered in front of the public. Supari killers from another state brutally attacked Sharath. In Ashraf Kalayi murder case the police arrested the accused but the same police have failed to arrest the accused in Sharath’s murder case. One of the police officers said that they are afraid to go and arrest the accused in Sharath Murder case because the police also face life threats. Even when D K Shivakumar’s house was raided, the IT department did not take the help of the local police. In DK the police are losing the trust of the people. Today we have protested symbolically, in the coming days we will intensify our protest. The attack on Hindu brothers, illegal cow slaughter, and love jihad are the three reasons for communal unrest in the district”.

The state government has withdrawn all the cases against PFI but has targetted the Sangh Parivar. The Government is shying away from taking action against the PFI. When Ashraf was murdered, protesters pelted stones and violated the law but the police did not file any cases against them. During the funeral of Ashraf too, people pelted stones but cases were filed against just three people. During Sharath’s funeral procession, there was a minor incident but Hindu leaders were booked for that. Now even after one month of the murder, the police and the government have failed to arrest the accused. We have started our agitation and we will continue till the accused in Sharath’s Murder case are arrested.”

Addressing the protesters Former MLC Monappa Bhandary said, “After one month of the murder of RSS worker Sharath Madival, the police have failed to arrest the accused. It is the failure of the state government as well as the state home ministry. Even in the attempt to murder cases of Pavan Raj at Melkar and Chiranjeev from Kuttar the police have failed to arrest the accused. In the Jalil Karopady murder and Ashraf Kalayi murder case the Congress party showed special interest to arrest the accused. Why is there a delay in arresting the accused in Sharath Madival’s murder case? The District Minister In-charge and Food minister are directly responsible for all the communal unrest in the district”.

Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell, Dr Bharath, Ranganath Kini and others were also present.
