Speaking to the mediapersons, Ibrahim said, “The fiery statement by BJP MP Anant Kumar Hegde has created buzz around the city. He had said that as long as there was Islam in this world, there would be terrorism. It is very unfortunate that such shocking statements are given by a member of Lok Sabha. I want to remind him that ‘Islam’ means peace and it does not relate to terrorism in anyway. India has a diversified religious background and the Indian constitution guarantees every citizen the liberty to follow the religion of his/her choice.”

He further said, “In India people have been living with freedom of practicing one’s own religion. These hate speeches are just given to incite communal violence in the society. Congress has never differentiated between anyone on the basis of religion. A mature person would never give such kind of statements. Few days back Anupam Kher, a supporter of their own party said that he believed that there were a few people in the BJP who gave hate speeches and disturbed the peaceful environment in the society. It is good that their own people have realized that there are people in their party who condemn other religions, even though their party claims to be equal with the people of this country.”

“If the Modi Government respects the constitution of this country, then let them take action against the BJP MP Anant Kumar Hegde for giving such a hate speech,” he added.

MLC Ivan D’Souza, corporator Vinay Raj and other congress leaders were also present.

  1. “In India people have been living with freedom of practicing one’s own religion. These hate speeches are just given to incite communal violence in the society”

Great statements, and extremely well said and they would be welcomed by a vast majority of Indians, as ALL would like to live in peace. But here is what I would ask of you, if you are really serious about what you said about living in freedom practicing one’s own religion, and condemning all those who incite communal violence.

It is very simple, just have a press conference and remind those Kashmiri separatist (as they have ALL seem to have forgotten) that Islam is a religion of Peace, and their religion has nothing to do with terrorism. Just imagine how apologetic, and profoundly sorry they will all be, desperately wanting to seek redress by sending huge convoy’s to Delhi to bring ALL the Pundits back, as they too deserve to live like you in peace and freedom.

To the best of my knowledge not one Muslims from UK was displaced, attacked, beaten, killed or raped as in the case of Kashmiri Pundits. Don’t you think that they too would also like to live in peace and in freedom practicing their own religion in Kashmir. Just as you have condemned Hegde you should condemn ALL separatist, supporters of Pakistan & IS.

I know you have no control over them, but you and your cohort could at the very least condemn them. If the separatist do not get your message, you could seek your army of volunteers (some I see are already on to the streets protesting) who could assist in a small or big way of bringing the pundits back. They have lived for generations in Kashmir, and have actually been driven out of their home and are languishing in refugee camps for 30 years.

I can assure you that this will make a change in how we view each other, and an overwhelming number of Indians from all walks of life will march with you hand in hand, shoulder to shoulder if you could ONLY apply what you said equally to ALL Indian people. Besides, remembering the golden rule to treat ALL people the same way you want to be treated, you will not to be accused of double standards. If not, yours are only hollow words and ALL you are only asking is to live freedom practising your religion, but you do not allow others the same privilege.

  2. As expected, communal party of Congress doesn’t waste a second to exploit any opportunity to worship minorities. I didn’t see any of these characters when a cleric issued fatwa to behead Kamalesha Tiwaari. None of these characters found ‘paakistaan zindaabad’ slogans to be offensive. Now they are busy showing fake outrage over another incident!! Why is it that minority groups and minority leaders are so reluctant to support their own country and its security?

  3. Kashmiri Pundits woes are indeed bad and therefore Kashmiri separatist are condemned. However it is incorrect to stereotype Indian Muslims( rest of the undisputed India) and justify statement made by an MP.

An elected MP who gives irresponsible speeches need to be held accountable and there should be a PIL in the making. Please do not mix up the issue of Kasmir with Indian muslims- there is no logic in inciting violence and unrest in india . To me this is akin to Sedition.

  4. The Assam Governor appealed to the Muslims of India to migrate to Pakistan. What a jungle raj statement?
The MP from Karnataka added spice to that statement and classified the Muslims as terrorists.
How, BJP can keep a terrorist in the BJP?

  5. One could go blue in the face and keep repeating yourself like a broken record, but still there will be always those from the minority community who intentionally try that guilt trip by making wild accusing statements in the hope that something will stick. Who is stereotyping whom? Who is justifying a statement made any MP? Explain. If the statement made by an MP a statement that is tantamount to “sedition”, then how do you describe what is happening in Kashmir?

The MP made a statement which is wrong, but how many people were attacked, killed and raped in UK, and compare what is happening to Hindus in Kashmir. Hello, wake up smell the coffee YOUR ARE WATCHING LIVE TV for the last 30 years, and that is real action which is much, much worse. It is called the ethnic cleansing of non – Muslims from Kashmir that are primarily Hindus, and a small minority of Sikhs and Christians.

  6. “To me this is akin to Sedition…” writes Robert Pais from Beef Club

This is what India has come to!! Paakistan Zindaabad or calling for India’s destruction is free speech. But, repeating what almost all of the republican presidential candidates here in US is sedition!! I wonder why minorities are so full of hatred towards hindu groups?
