Siddaramaiah’s ‘Terror’ Remark, BJP holds Jail Bharo

Udupi: The Udupi District Bharatiya Janata Party workers on Saturday, January 13, staged a jail bharo agitation near Brahmagiri circle and also across the state, condemning Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s statement calling the activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha and Hindu outfits as terrorists.

The protesters holding placards raised slogans against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the state government.

Addressing the protesters Mattar Rathnakar Hegde district BJP chief said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was misusing his position to spread false rumours against the party with an ulterior motive of reaping political gains. He has knowingly made irresponsible statements to malign a national political party like the BJP.

The Congress created Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and the Khalistan movement because of which Punjab bled for one decade. Similarly, it was the Congress that secretly supported the LTTE. It was the Congress that has clandestine nexus with various factions of the Naxals. “Can the Congress deny all these hard facts and harsh realities?”, he asked.

The Congress party‟s soft approach towards terrorism took the toll of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Again, it was the Congress which had a secret nexus with terror organisations such as the ULFA in the North East. If the country is faced with terror and if there have been sleeper cells of the terror organisations, then the Congress party‟s soft approach is the primary reason, he added.

The BJP workers courted arrest across the state as part of the jail bharo agitation.

Former MLA’s Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji R Mendon, MLC Kota Srinivasa Poojary, ZP president Dinakar Babu, vice president Sheela K Shetty, BJP leaders Uday Kumar Shetty, Naveen Shetty, Suresh Nayak, Shreesha Nayak, Akshith Shetty, Roshan Shetty, Shyamala Kundar and others were present
