Bengaluru : Actor Shahrukh Khan on Friday said he wishes to renovate his grandparents’ house in Bengaluru and come and live here along with his children.

Though he did not specify when he would do that, the actor turned nostalgic about the time he spent in Bengaluru during childhood.

Khan was speaking at the launch of IImbue 2015, an alumni meet and leadership summit organised by the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore Alumni Association here.

‘Fond memories of B’luru’

“I spent the first five years of my life mostly in Bengaluru and Mangaluru. I have fond memories of Bengaluru. I stayed here with my grandparents,” he said.

Asked what he missed the most about Bengaluru, Khan said: “I have grown up in the streets of Bengaluru. I miss the ‘trafficlessness’. I also miss those cycle rides and visits to Cubbon Park. Even as I wish to come here more often, time does not permit.” Khan also said he had gone around the City during a recent visit.

He said his children never grew up conscious that their father was an actor. Khan was also unsure if they would be able to relate to some of his old movies.

“I do not know what I have done to be what I am. My biggest pain is that I cannot teach my kids to be where I am.” The actor took questions from Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and actor Kabir Bedi during the event.

He also spoke about his stay in New Delhi and said he missed the winter evenings, the drive around JNU and IIT campus and having food at his favourite dhaba.

On social media

The actor was off social media for a brief duration and was criticised severely on that platform. “That is a place to be thick-skinned. Do not be on social media and complain. My kids are on Instagram. However, I am not allowed to follow them,” he remarked humorously.
