St Aloysius College-Harihar Celebrates ‘Deepavali’

 Harihar : Deepavali means a row or series of light.It signifies the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. St Aloysius College ,Harihar celebrated Deepavali on 28 October 2019 in the college quadrangle.The celebration began with a prayer and welcoming the guests on the dais. Ms Sichana welcomed the gathering which was followed by lighting the lamp signified the spread of light over darkness.

The chief guest for the day was Inayath Ulla, who has completed his graduation in law,an ex syndicate member of Kuvempu University ,Reporter of Vijaya Karnataka for the past twenty years and an advocate for the past eighteen years. The other dignitaries present were Fr Eric Mathias SJ ,Principal ,Degree College ,Fr Pradeep Sequeria,Finance Officer, Fr Cyril Raj SJ Director of Gents Hostel, Sunny Gudinho,Principal PU College and Mrs Pushpalatha Urs, Vice Principal.

Cultural programme in tune with the festival was held, where music is truly a piece of art that goes in the ears straight to the heart, students sang a song. Deepavali holds a significance for a variety of reasons,one of the core themes of the festival as symbolized by the lights is where goodness takes over evil.Student of II PUC science Amar delivered a speech on the same which was followed by lighting the deepas by the students and celebrating the festival of lights.

The chief guest in his address too the gathering spoke on the history of Deepavali,importance of Deepavali, story of Balichakravathri related to Balipadyami in connection to the deepavali celebration in the present world. Fr Pradeep spoke about how each one of us is the light of the world as quoted in the bible and how we can inspire others through it. The programme ended with vote of thanks and National Anthem.
