St. Aloysius College- Harihar managed by MJES hosts the Annual Sports Day

St. Aloysius College, Harihar, an institution managed by Mangalore Jesuits Educational Society (MJES) hosts the Annual Sports Day

Mangaluru: The Annual Sports Day of St. Aloysius College, Harihar was held on 27th February 2019 on the College field and it was pleasure to welcome Master Stany George Anthony as our Chief Guest. After seeking God’s blessings, the students felicitated the dignitaries and this was followed by hosting the Sports flag. The parade that followed flag hosting began with the College band setting the tone and beat for all the groups who had turned out in their very best. Colourful costumes depicting various themes were on display.

The Olympic flame was lighted by the National and State student representatives namely Nagraj, Harish, Annick and Akash. An inspiring speech was delivered by Master Stany Anthony stressing on hard work and persistence. The students then took oath of staying true to their conscience and performing to the best of their abilities. Our Principal, Fr. Eric Mathias SJ then addressed the crowd en-kindling the spirits of the participants to perform well. The Chief Guest then declared the event open.

The Sports Day showcased talents of many students who participated with full zeal and enthusiasm. The track events for boys and girls had the crowd cheering for their teams. The entire event was well coordinated by the senior students and staff. The Valedictory program too had an active participation by the students. The championship events for boys and girls saw close competition and the trophies were eventually lifted by Abhishek (2nd PUC) and Reetu (2nd PUC). Prajwal Group owned the title of being the Overall Champions of the Meet.

The Chief Guest Fr. Santhosh Fernandes SJ, Principal of St. Aloysius PU College through his speech reminded the students the virtues of hard work, unity and discipline which are crucial in a sportsperson’s life. The Dignitaries then lowered the Sports flag after which the entire gathering of students and staff stood reverently for the National Anthem which marked the end to this year’s Sports Day. Overall the event was enjoyed by the participants as well as by the spectators.
