St. Anne Church, Thottam, Observes Maundy Thursday with Solemnity
Malpe: On April 17, 2025, the Maundy Thursday liturgy was celebrated with deep devotion and reverence at St. Anne Church, Thottam, marking the beginning of the Easter Triduum. Rev. Fr. Alwyn Sequeira, editor of Uzawad Weekly, presided over the solemn Holy Eucharist as the main celebrant.
In his sermon, Fr. Alwyn emphasized the importance of sacrifice and the Christian call to serve others, drawing inspiration from Christ’s actions during the Last Supper. His message encouraged the faithful to live a life rooted in love, humility, and community service.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, symbolically reenacted Jesus’ humility by washing the feet of twelve parish representatives, signifying the call to selfless service. Following the Holy Mass, Fr. Denis D’Sa led the congregation in Sacramental Adoration, inviting the faithful to reflect on Christ’s agony in the Garden of Gethsemane.
The evening concluded with moments of silence, prayer, and spiritual intimacy. The celebration featured active participation, meaningful liturgical hymns, and a strong sense of community, setting the tone for the sacred days of Good Friday and Easter.
