St Thomas School Stops Teaching Arabic

Mangaluru: In order to avoid more consequences and hassles from the saffron group, the school management of St Thomas Aided Higher Primary School at Bondanthila has decided to stop conducting Arabic classes effective Saturday 6 August. The Arabic classes were suppose to be conducted this morning (Saturday) from 9 am -10 am, prior to the school hours of 10 am-4 pm.

Speaking to Team Mangalorean over the phone, Rev Fr Robert Crasta-the Correspondent of the School, and also the Parish Priest of St Antony’s Church-Fermai (The school is managed by this Church) said, ” Yesterday, Friday evening around 3.30 pm, about 24 members of the Church Parish Council , along with few old-students of the school and dozen of village dignitaries met at the school premises to discuss about the ongoing issues pertaining to teaching of Arabic Classes at the school, after the members of Sri Rama Sene had barged into the school campus demanding to stop teaching of Arabic language”

“After discussing about various issues and in order to prevent any more problems, we all decided to stop teaching Arabic immediately. It was also decided to stop conducting Karate classes also immediately. All these decisions were taken after getting the opinions from the parents, village dignitaries, parish council members and school management. I thank everyone who stood by us and supported us during the past few days” added Fr Crasta.
