Subrahmanya seer ends 60-hour fast

Mangaluru: Kukke Subrahmanya Samputa Sri Narasimha Swamy Mutt seer Vidyaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji withdrew his 60-hour fast, on Monday.

The seer was fasting from Saturday, following the denial of water to the mutt from Kannadihole–a stream flowing in the forest near Subrahmanya. The seer was also upset over a few allegations against the mutt and the controversies surrounding it.

Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Pejawar seer Vishwesha Tirtha, Suttur mutt seer, ministers and seers from Ashta Mutts of Udupi, had appealed to the fasting seer to withdraw his fast on Sunday.

“Both the Pejawar seer and the Chief Minister have promised to sort out the issues amicably. So, I have decided to end my 60-hour fast,” said the seer.
