Sumithra Nayak Elected President and Laxmi Mendon Vice President of Udupi CMC

Udupi: After a long gap of two years, the Udupi City Municipality has got a new president and vice president on October 29.

Sumithra Nayak Councilor of Parkala ward and Laxmi Mendon of Malpe ward were elected unanimously as the President and Vice President of Udupi City Municipality.

Kundapura Sub-Division Assistant Commissioner K Raju conducted the election process for the post of President and Vice president.

BJP has the majority with 31 seats in the 35-member council, and the Congress has four seats. The official announcement was made by the returning officer K Raju, Assistant commissioner of Kundapur Division at 3:00 pm.

Speaking to the mediapersons, newly elected CMC President Sumithra Nayak said that all efforts would be made to develop roads and provide better amenities. She also said that she would give a corruption-free administration.

Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, BJP councillors Vijay Kodavoor, Prabhakar Poojary, Yogish, Krishna Rao Kodancha, opposition Congress councillor Ramesh Kanchan and Amirtha Krishnamoorthy congratulated the new president and vice president.
