Suvarna Tribhuja Tragedy – Missing Fisherman’s brother attempts Suicide, condition serious

Udupi/Bhatkal: Chandrashekar brother of missing fishermen Ramesh from Bhatkal attempted to commit suicide by consuming rat poison. He has been admitted to the Adarsh Hospital in Serious Condition.

Ramesh has gone missing with six other fishermen in the fishing boat Suvarna Tribhuja on December 15.

According to Dr Chandrashekar Medical Director of the Hospital, Ramesh’s brother Chandrashekar had consumed rat poison three days ago and the poison has spread to all parts of the body. The liver has stopped working and both the kidneys may stop working anytime. His condition is critical and we are doing our best to save him. Chandrasekhar is not responding to the treatment. He may go into Coma, he said.

Chandrashekar’s Brother Nagaraj said, “After the missing of the fishing boat Suvarna Tribhuja Chandrashekar had gone into depression. He was not taking food properly and was even not speaking to anyone. When the news appeared in the media that the Navy had found the wreckage of the missing boat he was shocked. Three days ago he had consumed poison and did not inform anyone in the house about it. Two days ago we had admitted him to the Bhatkal hospital where we came to know that he has Jaundice. Immediately we brought him to Udupi for treatment”, he said.
