Taking final too seriously: Taskin Ahmed’s picture with MS Dhoni’s severed head goes viral in Bangladesh

Bangladeshi cricket fans have gone overboard with their celebrations of reaching the final of Asia Cup as one of them has morphed a picture of pacer Taskin Ahmed holding a chopped head of Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni while sounding a war cry.

This picture took social media by storm after Bangladesh stunned Pakistan on Wednesday to set up a summit clash with the Men in Blue. Bangladesh cricket team has been on an all time high for quite some time with them beating top nations at home regularly and this particular fan must have been swayed by emotions while taking to Twitter.

It can be noted that there has been a lot of tension between the Indian and Bangladeshi fans with the rising stature of the latter in the cricketing world. Incidentally a war had broken out last year between the neighbouring nations when Rohit Sharma was saved by a wrongly adjudged ‘no ball’ in the Indo-Bangla World Cup match. From then on there has been a lot of bad blood flowing between both set of fans.

However this is not the first time that Bangladeshi citizens have photoshopped pictures of Indian players and made them viral. After Dhoni’s men lost a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh last year, a local news paper had published an image of pacer Mustafizur Rahaman holding a cutter and Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhoni, Shikhar Dhawan and Ravichandran Ashwin standing beneath him with half shaved heads. The image was captioned, ‘Mustafizur cutter’ which was in tune with the Indians succumbing to cutters and slower deliveries of the left arm pacer.

With this recent image of Dhoni’s severed head doing the rounds, Bangladeshis have been facing a lot of criticism and it’s time that they realise that insulting legendary cricketers like Dhoni will never help them earn respect in the cricketing world, as at the end of the day, ‘cricket is a gentleman’s game’.

    • India is great . – Deepika Shettre

      Allo, Deepik’ere,

Your chaddi dost loses no opportunity to label as a ‘3rd world nation’!

And there you go saying that India is great!

Why do birds of the same feather who also flock together to march (and wave some bamboo sticks around their silly heads & pot-bellied bodies) have SUCH diametrically opposed views?

      ನೀರ್ ದೋಷ ದಾಲ ಇಜ್ಜತೆ? ಇಜ್ಜಾ, ಹವಾ ದೋಷ ಉಂಡು?

  2. People’s and a nation’s upbringing is revealed by its mentality and actions. This is a cheap stunt and portrays them in poor light.

That is why, even today, Bangladeshis are called a third world nation.

    • I was watching the T-20 match between India and Bangladesh day-before-yesterday when the latter had piled up 120 runs in just 15 overs and Indians had to score it within that number of overs. From the beginning, the Bangladeshis held Indians by the leash and the asking rate was quite high

At the fall of the second wicket, in comes Mahendra Singh Dhoni and in just six balls scores 20 runs (strike rate of 330) with two sixers and one four and wins the match. The moment Mahendra Singh Dhoni entered and started scoring, the Bangladeshi spectators at the Shere-e-Bangla stadium were shocked, crestfallen and with profuse sweating and the paint from the bodies of those Bangladeshis who looked like starving tigers, got messed up or faded.

Any game is a matter of winning or losing and one should take the outcome of the game with grace and dignity.

  3. Perhaps, the so called fan who published morphed picture of Dhoni, got the reply from Dhoni with his captaincy and bat!!!
