The ‘Baap’ of All Quiz Contests ‘RotoQuiz 2017’ held in City

The ‘Baap’ (Father) of All Quiz Contest ‘Rotoquiz’- the longest running live Inter-Collegiate General Knowledge Quiz sponsored by Ideal Ice Cream, and organized by Rotary Club of Mangalore; and Rotary Club of Bangalore was held in City on Sunday, 17 September at SDMCollege Auditorium. If You Haven’t Won It, You Haven’t Won Anything At All!

Mangaluru: The Rotary Club of Mangalore & Rotaract Club of SDM PG Centre for Management Studies, in association with Rotary Club of Bangalore took pride in hosting the 58th Ramanarayan Chellaram and the 2nd edition of Mangaluru ‘ROTOQUIZ 2017’ on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at SDM PG Centre for Management Studies & Research, MG Road Mangaluru. A record number of 31 institutions from Mangaluru, Udupi, Karkala, Moodbidri and Puttur with 61 teams took part in this quiz. The winning team from this round will take part in the final round of 58th Ramnarayan Chellaram Annual Inter Collegiate Quiz – ROTOQUIZ – 2017 at Bangalore finals on Monday the 25th of September- this is one of the longest-running live college quiz shows in the world.

The Format of the Quiz was– Written Preliminary Round followed by Semi-Finals of top performing teams. The winner of these rounds will participate in the Quiz Contest in Bengaluru. Topics for all rounds will be General Knowledge and Awareness. Maximum of two teams, of 2 students each represented each college. However, only one team from a college was selected for the Semi-Finals, even though more qualified. The quiz was Open to students from Std. XII or PUC 2nd Year upwards including undergraduates and postgraduate students from any stream from a recognized academic institutions.

After the preliminary written round, four teams were selected for the semi-finals, who were quizzed by Quizmaster: Rtn Shailesh Shah from the Rotary Club of Bangalore. The winners of this contest were:

First place: Bibaswan Mallik and Dhaanish Ali Sayed of Kasturba Medical College, Mangaluru; Second Place: Maitrey Deshpande and Rakshith Y.D of Nitte Institute of Communication, Journalism & Mass Communication- Nitte; Third place: Sundeep Kamath S and Nirbhay Shrikanth Badal of Canara Engineering College; and the The Fourth Place: Shrikrishna and Shashank D of Alva’s P.U. College, Moodbidri. The first Prize carried a cash Prize of Rs 10,000 and Trophy; Second & Third prize Rs 5000 each, in addition to attractive certificates. All participants were also issued with participation certificates.

 

Mukund Kamath- the Managing Director of Ideal Ice cream was felicitated during the occasion. President of Rotary Club Bangalore Rtn. Zarir Batha, Youth Services Chairperson and Quizmaster from Rotary Club Bangalore, Rt. Dr Gertrude D’Souza-Co-Chairperson Rotary Club of Bangalore. President Rtn. Vasant Shenoy; Secretary Rtn. Naveen, Rotaract Chairman & Convener of RotoquizRtn. Vinod D’Souza, Chairman Youth Service, Rtn. Aditya from the Rotary Club of Mangaluru and Dr Devraj K, Director- S.D.M P.G Institute; Prakash, Staff Co-ordinator and Adithi President, Rotaract were present at the event.
