The Future starts Today not Tomorrow
“Do you love life? Then do not squander time for that’s the stuff life is made of.” These are the words of Benjamin Franklin. This quote shows the importance of time in the life of each one of us. For we have heard that “Time and Tide wait for none”. An individual should understand the value of time for him to succeed in all aspects of life. People who waste time are the ones who fail to create an identity of their own. In our daily life, we have got only twenty-four hours in a day. So, we will not be able to do everything in a single day. This points to the fact that there should be proper time management. It will help the person to complete all his/her tasks in a fruitful manner. For this, keep the following points in mind.
- Prioritize the activities as per their importance.
- Make use of the time allocated for the right activity.
- Don’t waste time as time is always limited.
Time Management plays a very important role not only in organizations but also in our personal lives. The lives of great personalities in history show how they managed the time in their life. Analyzing those lives, we can understand that Time Management includes:
i. Proper Planning
ii. Set the goals and the objectives
iii. Keep the deadlines in mind.
iv. Divide the work and the responsibilities
v. Prioritizing activities
vi. Spending the right time on the right activity
Plan your day well in advance. Prepare a ‘To Do List” or a “TASK PLAN”. Jot down the important activities that need to be done in a single day against the time allocated to each activity.
Set the Goals and the Objectives
Having goals and objectives in mind helps us to be organized and focused. We can say that working without goals and targets in an organization would be similar to a situation where the captain of the ship loses his way in the middle of the sea. The goals and objectives must be realistic and achievable.
Keep the deadlines in mind
Setting deadlines for yourself and striving hard to complete tasks ahead of the deadlines is the best sign of proper time management. The one who can set the deadlines for you is none other than you. So be faithful to yourself. Ask yourself how much time needs to be devoted to a particular task and for how many days. Use a planner to mark the important dates against the

The real leader is not the one who does everything by himself but the one who knows how to get the help of others. Don’t do everything on your own. Remember that there are other
people who can do things better than you. This will help you to be more effective.
Another important aspect is prioritizing the tasks as per their importance and urgency. Know the difference between important and urgent work. Identify which tasks should be done within a day, within a month and so on. Tasks which are most important should be done earlier.
Spending the right time on the right activity
Each one of us should develop the habit of doing the right thing at the right time. Work done at the wrong time is not of much use or appreciated. Don’t waste a complete day on something which can be done in an hour or so.

- Time Management makes an individual punctual, disciplined and organized.
- It boosts an individual’s morale and makes him more confident.
- Individuals who stick to a time plan realize their goals and objectives within the shortest possible time span.
- Better Time Management helps in better planning and eventually better forecasting.
- Research says that individuals who accomplish tasks on time are less prone to stress and anxiety.
