Theft in Temples in Tokur and Adyapadi – No Clue

Mangaluru: Heavy rains and constant power cuts seem to be causing more and more thefts in the past days.

Two temples in the taluk were broken into and valuables taken away by thieves on Saturday night. When the Subrahmanya Mahaganapati temple was opened on Tuesday morning, the door was found broken open. On verification, many silver adornments and panchaloha idols were found to have been stolen. But the gold ornaments have remained safe in bank lockers, said the temple sources.

There was no power cut. But the thieves, before executing the theft, appear to have put the main switch off. Twice earlier, thefts had taken place in the temple. Even though CCTV systeme had been installed, its recorder had been taken away by the thieves.

The Durgaparameshwari temple in Bibilachil Adyapadi near Bajpe was also broken into the same night. Silver ornaments and adornments worth about Rs 2 lakh have been taken away by the thieves.
