Three men take turn to rape dog in UP’s Hathras, booked for cruelty

Agra: In yet another case of cruelty to animals, a female dog was allegedly gang-raped by three men in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. All the three accused have been booked under Section 11 (Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and Section) and 377 (unnatural offence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The incident occurred at Jalesar Road area when the accused kidnapped the canine from its owner’s house and raped it. The three accused have been identified as Dinesh Kumar, Satish and Ashok.

According to a report, the owner Santosh Devi said the accused is known to her family and lives next door at a rented accommodation. The dog owner said the accused lured her with an egg and raped her last Thursday. All three accused were said to be in an inebriated condition whey they abused the dog – a Pomeranian breed. The accused are still on the run.

According to Santosh Devi, she did not get alarmed when her pet disappeared after 10 pm, thinking it must be somewhere around. Devi said she went out in the morning to look for the canine after she did not find the dog at home.

The woman later found the dog in an unconscious state at Dinesh’s home. She alleged that the canine was in a critical condition. The owner also said that the dog had suffered severe internal injuries during the beastly sexual assault.

Parvesh Rana, Station House Officer (SHO) of Hathras police station said they have filed a case and a probe is underway in the case. A medical examination of the dog was conducted, the report of which is still awaited. Police say they will arrest the accused soon.

In a similar incident in February this year, a tea stall worker, who was drunk, allegedly raped a dog in Nandanam, Chennai. The local residents caught the youth with the dog. The accused was later booked by the police.

In November 2018, a male dog died during medical treatment days after he was allegedly brutalised and gang-raped by four men in Malwani area of Malad West in Mumbai. The canine had to be admitted to a veterinary hospital for treatment after sustaining severe injuries at the hands of the four accused.

The dog’s private parts had been mutilated by the four accused, who were allegedly intoxicated when they assaulted the animal. The incident came to light when a local resident Sudha Fernandes, who regularly fed the dog, saw him lying in a pool of blood near a church. When she kept food near him, he was howling in pain and did not allow anyone to touch him.
