Traffic to be Diverted during the Under Ground Drainage (UGD) Work on Car Street Road from 1 October 2020 till 29 November 2020. But many shop owners in that area say that the work probably will not be completed until end of 2020, and in the meantime they have to suffer huge loss in their business during this pandemic.

Mangaluru : Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar informing the media said, “Since the Road work from Lord Venkataramana temple junction to Balaji (Srinivas) Talkies Junction in the Car Street vicinity, starts from 1 October 2020 till 29 November 2020, all vehicles will be diverted through different routes, for about 40 days, and motorists and pedestrians have to bear with the inconveniences until then.

The buses plying on State Bank-Car Street-Kudroli-Mannagudda route have to go via Clock Tower, Hampankatta, K S Rao Road, Navbharat Circle, Dongerkery Road, New Chitra Junction and ply towards Mannagudda. There will be a ban on movement of heavy goods vehicles traffic coming towards Navbharat Circle from New Chitra Junction. Parking on both sides of the road from new Chitra Junction to Navbharat circle has been prohibited, till the work is complete”

Police Commissioner also said, “Heavy, light and other goods vehicles coming from Bunder have to come via Bunder Junction, Azizuddin Road, Lower Car Street, Balaji Junction, New Chitra Junction and Mannagudda. Vehicles moving towards Bunder via Lower Car Street from Ladyhill direction should take left turn at Durgamahal Junction and go via Ballalbagh Junction, Bunts Hostel, Hampankatta and A B Shetty circle. Parking of vehicles is banned on both sides of the road from Hotel Srinivas Junction on GHS Road to Om Mahal Junction, till the completion of the work”.

Er Arun Prabha, the General Manager (Technical) at Mangaluru smart City Limited (MSCL) speaking to Team Mangalorean said that, if there are no heavy rains in the coming months, the work will be completed as per planned, and MSCL will try its best to expedite the work in a fast pace, so that the business owners won’t feel the brunt for long. The police commissioner had also issued a new notification declaring 61 spots in the city as no parking zones. So, all you motorists having the habit of parking your vehicles illegally, BEWARE- the cops are getting tough and will tow your vehicles on your expenses.
