Tulu Film Actors Devdas Kapikad & Naveen Padil Conferred Rotary Vandana Awards
Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Rtn. Dr. Devdas Rai-Chairman-Rotary Vandana Awards Committee said, “Eminent Tulu Theatre Thespians and Popular Cine Artists Devdas Kapikad and Naveen D Padil have been chosen for the prestigious state-level Rotary Annual “Vandana Award – 2018” in recognition of their invaluable contributions, in the field of Entertainment. The award is jointly instituted by Rotary Club of Mangalore Central and Rotaract Club of Mangalore City, which is being conferred on these two Coastalwood actors in appreciation of their exemplary achievements in the field of Tulu Drama and Film. The award comprises of a citation, plaque and memento.”
He further said, “Mangaluru City Corporation Mayor Bhaskar Moily will grace the occasion as Chief Guest and will felicitate the Awardees in a function to be held on Saturday 21 April, 2018 at 8.00 pm at Hotel Kudla Hall, Mangaluru. President of Rotary Club of Mangalore Central Rtn. Raymond D’Cunha will preside over the function. Rotary District Zonal Lieutenant Rtn. Anil Gonsalves; District Rotaract Representative Rtr. Jackson Saldanha; and President of Rotaract Club of Mangalore City Rtr. Pavithra Acharya will be the guests of honour on this occasion.”

Raymond D’Cunha speaking said, “Rotary Club and Rotract Club annually confer their prestigious state-level Vandana Award to the achievers in the field of sports, literature, Industry, business, Banking, Music, Science, Art, Culture and Social Service as a part of the Clubs Vocational Service projects.The “Vandana Award” has been given to achievers in life for their lifetime achievements, since 2004. This novel idea implemented by Rotaract Club, was later joined by Rotary Club. In the past many achievers have been the recipients of Vandana award-to name a few, Justice Santhosh Hegde (2007-08), Padmashree Chnadrashekar BS (2008-09), Gurukiran (2009-10), Padmashree Kadri Gopalnath (2010-11), A J Shetty (2011-12), Kasargod Chinna and Mobility Centre for the Blind(2012-13); Dr BR Shetty (2013-14); Javagal Srinath (2014-15); Dr Shashikiran Shetty (2015-16); and Dr Jayaram Bhat on his unique achievements in Banking Sector, and Manohar Prasad for his invaluable contributions in the field of journalism.{2017}
