Two Arrested for Honey Trapping and Extorting Astrologer in Hebri

Karkala: The Hebri police arrested two persons for allegedly honey trapping and extorting an astrologer at Hebri here on July 25.

The arrested have been identified as Suma resident of Belenje near Hebri and Kiran Shetty resident of Jannadi near Kundapur.

According to the police, Suma visited the house of Astrologer Ramesh Bhat in Hebri for health problems. The Astrologer checked Suma which she recorded in her mobile kept in the bag. Later Suma with the recording blackmailed astrologer Ramesh Bhat demanding Rs 40 lakhs. The Astrologer then decided to file a complaint with the Hebri Police.

The Police trapped the accused through the call records and then interrogated Suma and her husband Raghavendra. During interrogation, they confessed that they had blackmailed Ramesh Bhat with the help of their relative Kiran Shetty. The Police have now arrested Kiran Shetty and Suma and are looking out for others involved in the case.

The police have seized a Duster car, a motorbike, Rs 26000 cash, Seven Mobile Phones, a Vanity Bag, Knife, and a Sword from the accused.

Kiran and Suma were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
