Two arrested for Illegal Cattle trafficking, two escape

Udupi: The Udupi Town police have arrested two persons involved in transporting cattle for slaughter, on August 3.

The arrested have been identified as Sadiq (31) resident of Kulai Mangaluru and Iqbal (28) resident of Panjimogeru Kulur.

According to the police, Ananatha Padbmanaba and his team were on the morning rounds, at Ambalpadi Junction when they stopped a Bolero Pick-up, it sped away without stopping. The police then chased the vehicle and arrested two persons, two others Asif and Shameer who were in the vehicle managed to escape.

The police found 5 cattle and 16 calves in the Bolero pickup. The police seized the vehicle and rescued the cattle. The rescued cattle have been shifted to Neelavara Go Shala.

A case has been registered in the Udupi Town Police Station.
