Two including KRV Mahila Taluk President Arrested in Honeytrap case
Mangaluru: The Barke police have arrested two persons including the president of Mahila Taluk, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike in connection with extorting money by honey trapping a man in Ladyhill on September 26.
The arrested have been identified as Srilatha, president of Mahila Taluk, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and Rakesh.
According to the police on September 23, a woman called an elderly man and asked him to come near Ladyhill stadium. When he came to meet the caller near the stadium by car, he was dragged by four men and a woman from his car and kidnapped. Later the elderly man was taken to Rajesh Pavithran’s house in Suratkal.
Rajesh Pavithran had demanded Rs 5 lakh and threatened to expose his sex scandal to the media if he failed to pay the amount. When the elderly man refused to pay, they assaulted him and snatched his gold chain weighing 36 grams, 2 gold rings, watch and cash Rs 18,000. In this connection, the victim filed a complaint in the Barke police station.
The Barke police registered a case under section 120(B), 365, 342, 323, 395, 385,506 and 149 IPC. The Barke police investigating the case arrested Srilatha and Rakesh and recovered the gold chain, rings, watch and a memory card from their possession. Both the accused were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. The police are searching for the other accused who are now absconding.
Under the direction of Police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP Crime and Traffic Uma Prashanth and ACP Uday Nayak, the operation was carried out by the Barke police Inspector K K Ramakrishna and Urwa police inspector Ravish and staff.
