Udupi: A 60-year-old man was killed after a earth-mover which was being transported on a truck rolled over the car, he was driving, at Tenka Yermal, Padubidri here on April 27.
The deceased has been identified as Vittal Naik (60), a resident of Shantinagar in Udupi
Eyewitnesses said that the accident occurred due to the negligence of the truck driver while transporting the earth-mover.
Vittal Naik was driving his car towards Udupi from Mangaluru and the truck was plying from Udupi to Mangaluru. All of a sudden when the driver of the truck applied the brakes, the earth-mover rolled down from the truck over the car. Vittal Naik and other two occupants in the car were pulled out of the car and rushed to the hospital but Vittal Naik succumbed to his injuries. The other two who were also injured are admitted in the hospital.
A case has been registered in the Padubidri police station.
