While asked on his rating on the completion of NDA’s first year, Oscar said that people have rated them on their performance in the past one year. “The suicide of farmers was the election issue for BJP during elections, while in reality, the numbers of farmers committing suicide have doubled. The farmers from prosperous states like Maharashtra, Punjab and Haryana are committing suicide while the central government is silent on the issue.”

While asked on the ordinance to the land acquisition bill, Oscar said that the farmers have rated the bill as anti-farmer which itself proves that farmers have lost faith in the government. “The BJP was often criticizing on the rising prices of petrol while UPA was in power. The rate for a barrel now is $70 but still the NDA government is not willing to decrease the price.”

“The guaranteed 100 days of work was one of the key policies formulated by UPA I to eradicate poverty. The policy was to be implemented in 300 districts but later it was extended to 580 districts. Child labor can be abolished if the work is guaranteed to the parents. The international market has banned certain goods from India terming it to be produced using child labor. The minimum wage policy for unorganized labor and different rates of interest lead to development of masses.

Knowledge is in our palms today. We are having access to quality education meeting global challenges. Former PM Manmohan Singh said that talent is a reservoir, and India has a pool of talents who can lead the country. Indian citizens are representing India at global platform, catering the economic growth of the nation.”

“The Right to Food Act defines India’s determination towards a hunger free nation. Sonia Gandhi proposed the supply of food grains to the poor, which aims at achieving a hunger free India. The supply of free rice to BPL card holders in Karnataka indicates the determination of the Congress government in uplifting the poor.”

“Congress has served the purpose of fundamental rights and directive principles of the Indian Constitution which aim for the welfare of its citizens.”

“Indira Gandhi said “tighten your belts”, while American President assured help to India, Indira kindly refused, which led to the Green Revolution. Rajiv Gandhi’s dreams and aspirations of developing the country at a rapid pace are enjoyed by the people of the country. The vision of India being an economic super power in 2020 was dreamt long back,” he added.

Oscar also said that the district Congress is functioning well but the scope for growth is vast.

“The ordinance to land Acquisition Act is favorable to corporates and not farmers,” said former MP Jayaprakash Hegde. “The 80% opinion clause has been removed which clearly indicates the intention of the government,” he added.

Udupi MLA Pramod Madhwaraj said that 24 hrs power supply to Udupi district led students to study and score good grades. “Drinking water issues are under control and release of Rs 100 crore for the same will further improve the drinking water supply,” he added.
