“ISRO has been effectively promoting students to build satellites. Four satellites built by the students have been launched by ISRO. Students are also building 10-12 more satellites, which the ISRO will be launching in the days to come. Through this process, students can understand the techniques of building satellites and can also promote their ideas,” said Kumar.

He further said that ISRO needs to increase its production capacity. “We are presently launching 10-12 satellites per year. We will be launching 5 commercial satellites of Singapore and 23 other contracts have been signed.”

ISRO is the only civilian operating organisation in the world, while other space research organisations are governed by the military in the world. Every government in power provides equal support and opportunity to ISRO as they understand the need of ISRO in promoting the country’s welfare.

ISRO has been playing a major role in promoting welfare of the country. It assists in cyclone alerts, sets up communication, crop oriented and other projects, he added.

Dr Radhakrishan Aithal, Director SMVITM; Prof. Tirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal SMVITM and others were present.
