Udupi: District courts grants bail to Noor Zulfiqar

Udupi: The District Sessions Court has granted bail to Sridhar alias Noor Zulfiqar in 2 cases on January 13. Sridhar, a naxal activist, had recently surrendered to the police in Chikkamagaluru along with Sirimane Nagaraj after the state governments call to surrender.

Four cases were pending against Sridhar, 2 in Chikkamagaluru and 2 in Udupi courts. He was granted bail in two cases in the Chikkamagaluru Court and as 2 cases were pending in Udupi court, he was placed under judicial custody.

He had appeared in the Karkala court on December 24. The case was transferred to the District Sessions Court. The District Sessions Court judge granted bail to Sridhar in the two cases. Senior lawyer Shantharam Shetty was the defence counsel to Sridhar.

Sridhar was arrested following his alleged role in the kidnapping of forest guard K Harinarayan on November 11, 2005. He also faced charges of his alleged role in the murder of Boja Shetty of Seethanadi. He will have to attend the court proceedings for the said cases.
