Udupi Government Residential Complex Suffers Second Burglary in Nine Months

Udupi: Residents of the Government Residential Complex near Mission Compound in Udupi city are on high alert following a recent burglary on the night of July 19. This incident marks the second time in just nine months that the complex, primarily housing Revenue Department personnel, has been targeted by thieves.

According to reports, valuables worth a substantial amount were stolen from three residences within the complex. Security footage from CCTV cameras captured the burglars in action, providing some evidence for investigators. The Udupi Town police have registered a case and have initiated a thorough investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.

This latest incident follows a similar event on September 29 of the previous year, when six houses in the same complex were broken into, resulting in the loss of cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees. Disappointingly, no arrests have been made in connection with the previous burglary, leaving residents feeling vulnerable and concerned about the overall security of their housing complex.

The repeated targeting of the Government Residential Complex has raised serious questions about the adequacy of security measures in place. Residents are urging authorities to enhance security protocols, including increased patrolling and improved surveillance systems, to deter future criminal activity and ensure the safety of the community. The lack of progress in the previous case has further fueled residents’ anxieties and underscores the need for a more effective and proactive approach to crime prevention in the area. The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities have assured residents that all efforts are being made to bring the culprits to justice and prevent further incidents.
