Udupi Muslims Observe Eid-ul-Fitr with Fervor and Community Focus
Udupi: The Muslim community throughout Udupi district commemorated Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday with traditional observances and a renewed emphasis on social responsibility. Mosques across Udupi city, Kaup, Brahmavar, Kundapur, Byndoor, Hebri, and Karkala taluks were filled with worshippers participating in special Eid prayers.

The day began with the distribution of Fitr Zakat to those in need, followed by donning new attire as community members prepared for communal prayers. Dedicated spaces were allocated for women at certain mosques to facilitate their participation in the Eid prayers. Post-prayer, attendees exchanged Eid greetings, reinforcing community bonds.
Maulana Abdur Rasheed Nadwi led the Eid prayers at Udupi Jamia Masjid, while Maulana Inayathullah Razvi presided over the prayers at Udupi Anjuman Masjid. Muhammad Moula, President of the Udupi District Muslim Federation, extended Eid greetings to all.
At the Moolur Juma Masjid, the central mosque of the Udupi District Joint Jamaat, Khateeb Hafiz Muhammad Ashraf Sakafi led the special Eid prayers and delivered the Khutba. M.A. Gafoor, Chairman of the Coastal Development Board, was among those who participated in the prayers.
In Kundapur, a procession took place in the morning from the Juma Masjid to the Eidgah grounds, where special prayers were conducted. Imam Obedur Rahman Nadwi led the Eid prayers at the Hashimi Masjid in Brahmagiri Nayarkere.
During his Eid message at the Hashimi Masjid, Imam Obedur Rahman Nadwi emphasized three key social concerns: he urged parents to protect their children from drug abuse, highlighted the need to prevent road accidents by encouraging responsible driving among youth, and called for inclusive festival celebrations to promote communal harmony.
Religious leaders directly addressed the youth, warning against substance abuse and encouraging peaceful coexistence, stressing that social cohesion is essential for the community’s well-being.
Authorities implemented heightened police security at mosques throughout the Udupi district as a precautionary measure to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the celebrations.
